Inspired by the Venetian mask of the "plague doctor", Ginevra Tarabusi reflects on the historical moment in which we find ourselves and on the human condition, in a triptych of extraordinary elegance. Her pages are stripped of colour and matter, bringing them back to the white of paper, of meditation, of rest. She alternates the lightness of graphite with the lyricism of gold, which breaks the soft compositional balance of the three plates and consolidates the vigour of the circle, symbol of life and time that returns and has no end.

An ambiguous object, which hides and at the same time reveals a transformation, the carnival mask implicitly alludes to a period of symbolic passage, from winter "death" to spring rebirth: a moment of absolute freedom in which the established order is unhinged. Beginning in the 14th century - in correspondence with the spread of the plague in Europe - before becoming folklore, the mask represented by the artist was an integral part of the doctors' equipment, where the beak, filled with hay and aromatic herbs, should have fulfilled the function of the present mask. From beak to beak, another complex symbol of metamorphosis and inevitable omen, the raven, inhabits the last sheet of the triptych together with our fears "today as yesterday, perhaps not tomorrow".
