In the series “Pensieri Notturni” (night thoughs), Riccardo Garolla pursues tender encounters in a succession of painted papers. According to an expressive process that has always characterized his work and actively drawing on his references - Schiele and Klimt in particular - "he dissolves and loses the gesture; no longer twentieth-century gnarled tangles but syncopated, musically serialised and poetically transcribed, scratched, contemporary poses" (Giallombardo, 2017). Like fragments of a poem, the Night Thoughts retrace "the sentimental journey, often secret, sometimes forgotten, that mark the seasons of life, and to which everyone can provide, if not a name, certainly a face" (Del Guercio, 2019).
